On May 24th, the lecture entitledAmerican Friendswas successfully held in Leyu C107.
At first, Ms. Amy Elizabeth Call shares some experience of learning in France with the audience. She says that, it is not enough to learn a kind of language well in one year. In her opinion, it is like a person who do not know how to swim in a swimming pool when he goes to a country and do not know how to speak the language. The only way to change it, is to learn it step by step.
She says, in America it is important to avoid sensitive topics, and set up your individual networks. Music is a good way to make friends. “Let’s get tickets!” An excited music concert is an awesome choice. About having meal, going “dutch” is the better way for men and women unless you are a couple.
At last, a student asks Ms. Amy Elizabeth Call the meaning of “how are you” in English. She says that if the person just passes by you, “how are you” only means “hi”, because actually he/she has no time to know “how are you.”
The lecture is so awesome that Ms. Amy Elizabeth Call and students enjoy it.
