On the evening of April 24th, Mr. Christopher Dockstader and Mr. Sean McHugh participated in English Corner with students although it was rainy. The topic was The Influence of Parents’ Words.
Words are powerful. Mr. Christopher Dockstader told the students that parents always believed their children were unique regardless of their appearance and talents. For children, parents’ words more or less influence them whether positively or negatively. Therefore, parents have to be careful of what they say. Parents should encourage their children to stay positive in life when they face difficulties or lack confidence.
Mr. Sean McHugh expressed his opinions as followed. He thought parents’ words were of importance to guide children to move forward in the right direction and handle many other life issues. However, it’s impossible for children to depend on their parents all the time for the fact that the world is constantly changing.
In conclusion, Everyone should handle their own problems by themselves even though sometimes parents offer suggestion and encouragement.
