As one of the typical activities of the School of Foreign Languages, lectures by overseas teachers were held again. At 7 p.m. on September 27, Miss Amy Van Gundy, an American from the state of California, held the first lecture of this semester, and the topic was "California---fact or fiction".
The lecture began with a brief introduction to California by Amy. With humorous words, vivid pictures and funny videos, all of students were attracted by this topic. At the same time, Amy used a mini game “fact or fiction” to correct their misunderstanding about California, which made students learn more about it. Then, she also introduced the culture, custom and views of California in details. Especially, she mentioned an area we’re quite familiar with--the Chinatown. This lecture really increased students'' interest to learn different cultures. At last, she gave students opportunities to ask questions and answered them patiently.
This lecture ended with a round of applause. Students who attended this activity said that it was very interesting and helpful, and they liked to study English in this way.
