11月16日晚,本学期第十次英语角活动在图书馆一楼举行。到场外教分别是Dr. Aviva Shimelman和Dr. Matthew Conduct。
Dr. Matthew Conduct与同学们畅聊了运动这一话题。Matthew最喜欢篮球,而这也是他平日锻炼身体的主要途经。一位同学则向大家分享了自己最喜欢的运动——棒球。他向大家介绍道,棒球起源于英国并于14、15世纪开始盛行,大约18、19世纪在美国普及。棒球作为一项有效锻炼身体的运动,如今在世界上被广泛喜爱。
来自菲律宾的交换生蔡琳也参加了此次英语角,在香港生活了六年的她,对粤语有着浓厚兴趣,并且十分享受吃早茶的时光。大家用粤语、英语等畅谈着各自的日常,并认为通过电视节目了解外国文化是个不错的选择。
畅谈的时光飞流即逝,英语角在欢声笑语中结束了。大家对下次的交谈之旅满怀期待。
English Corner: Lifestyles

On the evening of November 16th, the English corner was held in the libraryas usual. Dr. Aviva Shimelman and Dr. Matthew Conduct attended the English Corner.
Dr. Matthew Conduct talked about sports with the students. He said his favorite sport was basketball, and he often played basketball to build up his body. Besides, a student sharedhis favorite sport baseball with others. Baseball, which originated in Britain, spread across the country in the14th or 15th century, and it became popular in America in the 18th or 19th century. Nowadays, baseballis widely welcomed as an effective exercise.
Katherine, an exchange student from thePhilippines, also came to the English corner. Her Chinese name is Cai Lin. She told the students that she had been in Hong Kong for 6 years and she enjoyed her life there. When it comes to her daily life, she said that she liked watchingTV series, which was a good way to know more about foreign cultures.
Time flies. The English corner cameto an end soon. All the students were looking forward to the next gathering.
