演讲人：Mr. Winston Shumaker

Although born in Los Angeles Mr. Winston Shumaker was raised in the southern state of Arkansas from 3 years old. He went on to get a degree in English Literature at the University of Central Arkansas, then after graduating he came to China to teach English and immerse himself in Chinese society, as he had developed a keen interest in it over the years through books and movies. He has lived in China for almost 12 years studying the language and culture, not to mention enjoying the food immensely.

The South is one of the most distinctive regions in the United States and in this lecture Mr. Winston Shumaker will talk briefly about its history and culture, outlining how and why it is so different from the rest of the country. He will also touch on some of the more colorful examples of its residents.
