Mr. David Fleet
I have an extensive background in EFL/ESOL over many years, covering numerous institutions and at all levels. This has specifically involved working in Further and Higher Education, and on academic programmes such as those described in the job specification. I have, therefore, become most familiar with the specialism of “E.A.P.”(English for Academic Purposes),within the broad field that is English as a Foreign Language.
In 1990/91 I was involved with the EAP teaching component at Bilkent University(Ankara), on its pre-sessional programme. In 1997 I worked for Hilderstone College(Kent),which had a pre-sessional course for Japanese undergraduates. I taught on Glyndwr(Wrexham)University’s pre-sessional summer course, in 2009, for Chinese undergraduates. Most recently I have been employed as an Academic Study Skills Tutor by the online arm of Liverpool University’s Distance Learning Master’s degree programme. This was accompanied by some initial teacher training, which I passed. I have some additional experience of IELTS training, albeit limited, from a short course with the British Council(again in 2009).
I am moreover educated to Master’s level myself(though not in TESOL), and am currently reading widely in EAP texts, with the intention of consolidating my experience and training, on an on-going basis. The position here BNUZ being another step along the way to teaching and lecturing in a Higher Educational institution.
Outside work, I like nothing better than to be outdoors, enjoying peaceful recreation in the countryside:walking and cycling predominating. I continue with a lifelong passion for and interest in the natural environment, contributing wherever possible to causes and movements dedicated to wildlife protection and/or animal welfare.
