On the evening of September 3, the School of Foreign Languages held successfully the opening ceremony for the freshmen of 2016 in Room A302 of Liyun Building. Dean and Professor Tao Wenhao, Vice Dean and Associate Professor Xie Qingli, Vice Dean and Associate Professor Xie Wenting, more than 30 Chinese and foreign teachers as well as all the freshmen of 2016 of the School attended the ceremony.

The ceremony started with a speech addressed by Dean Tao Wenhao who expressed his warmest welcome to the freshmen and extended his best wishes to them for a bright and wonderful campus life during their studies at SFL in the coming years. Then he introduced the recent development of the School, and highlighted the international perspective of theSchool with regard to the major teaching. He also offered students some advice on how to make the best use of their time at BNUZ. At the end of his speech, Dean Tao cited the motto of both the university and the school to inspire students to develop their talents.

Ms.He Bei, the representative of Japanese major teachers, warmly welcomed the new students. She advised students to establish self-confidence in learning Japanese. What’s more, it was emphasized in her speech that students of SFL, as foreign language learners, should always try to find constructive ways to contribute to this country since everyone has something to offer. As the representative of newly-employed teachers, Dr.Franka Kermer shared with the audience her experience in teaching and hoped that students would pay more attention to the second language learning.

On behalf of the seniors and juniors of SFL, Yin Haifeng and Pan Jinyi shared with the freshmen their experience in the study. On behalf of the freshmen of the graduates, Jin Lei expressed her expectation for the future and encouraged all the freshmen to stand high and aim far, read widely and think thoroughly, dream big and plan well. And Huang Minyi, on behalf of the freshmen of undergraduates, calling on all students to lay a solid foundation on which they would make their contributions to a better future for themselves.

Ended up with a multimedia presentation, the Opening Ceremony for the freshmen of 2016 came to a close. Wish all the freshmen a brilliant, fulfilling and wonderful life at BNUZ!
