The year of 2011 is the second year that the School of Foreign Languages has collaborated with the School of Chinese in an English-TCFL bi-major program. At the beginning of this semester, the SFL invited Qiu Yue, an associate professor from the School of Literature, to the Bi-major information session to introduce the program. In September this year, the same as last year, 21 freshmen from the SFL enrolled in this program.

Students of this program learn English as their first major and TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) as the second major, or vice versa. Freshmen of the English major and the TCFL can apply for the program at the beginning of the first semester. There are 4 orientations for this bi-major program: Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Secretarial Work concerning Foreign Affairs, English Language & Literature and English Education.

With the development of Confucius Institutes, more and more people around the world are learning Chinese as a foreign language. Students of this program will meet the needs of promoting Chinese as an International language and have a good prospect of employment in the future.
