2011 Youth Ballroom Dance Open Tournament of Zhuhai (Hong Kong, Macao & Pearl River Delta Ballroom Dance Open Tournament) was held on April 30th in Jinan University at Zhuhai. It was hosted by Zhuhai Sports Federation, and undertaken by Zhuhai Sports Dance Association. Pan Yiwen, who is from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, took part in the game on behalf of the BNUZ (Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai). As a result, he got the first prize in Individual Event of International College Group, the third prize in International Public Challenge for the Lord of Dance, and the award of Outstanding Team.
Ballroom dancing is full of interests and challenges. Practicing ballroom dancing was Pan Yiwen’s hobby since he was in primary school. With passion and encouraged by teachers and classmates, he decided to take part in the competition. In the International Public Challenge for the Lord of Dance, he was in the most challenging group, because his opponent was the champion of National Match. Instead of giving up, he tried his best to perform well.
Although the practicing process was full of hardships, he had learned some valuable things such as how to get on well with others, how to overcome his shortcomings and so on. Perhaps the dance is just like life, you can succeed if you did it with enthusiasm and persistence.
